EPDM O-Ring Lubricating Oil Compatibility
EPDM (ethylene propylene rubber) O-rings are widely used in the sealing field, and their lubricant compatibility is a key consideration.
EPDM has good tolerance to non-polar lubricants (such as mineral oil and synthetic hydrocarbon oil), and exhibits excellent anti-aging, anti-swelling and anti-degradation properties. However, EPDM has poor compatibility with polar lubricants (such as ester oil and polyether oil), which may cause swelling, softening or performance degradation. Therefore, when selecting a lubricant, it is necessary to ensure that its chemical composition matches that of EPDM to avoid long-term contact that may cause seal failure.
