EPDM O-Ring Lubricating Oil Compatibility
EPDM (ethylene propylene rubber) O-rings are widely used in the sealing field, and their lubricant compatibility is a key consideration.
EPDM has good tolerance to non-polar lubricants (such as mineral oil and synthetic hydrocarbon oil), and exhibits excellent anti-aging, anti-swelling and anti-degradation properties. However, EPDM has poor compatibility with polar lubricants (such as ester oil and polyether oil), which may cause swelling, softening or performance degradation. Therefore, when selecting a lubricant, it is necessary to ensure that its chemical composition matches that of EPDM to avoid long-term contact that may cause seal failure. It is recommended to refer to the technical data sheet of the lubricant and perform compatibility testing to ensure the reliability and durability of the O-ring under specific operating conditions.
